HISTORY

Spirit of Life Church began as a bible study before launching its first service in Martinsville, Indiana, on Sunday, October 1, 1997. Shortly after the pioneering group began to meet, Pastor Adam Varnell was hired as SLC's senior pastor, and he and his wife Beth were married and together have two children: Joshua and Alyssa. Through the years, SLC has transitioned in location, holding services in a plaza strip mall, a former lumber company, and a catering facility. SLC has enjoyed their current location since July 2004, and has added other staff numbers as we have grown, including the addition of Pastor Kenny Collier who began the transition to Lead Pastor in August of 2022. Together with his wife Kindel, who leads worship at SLC, they have three children: Haley, Meghan, and Noah. Our Student Ministry Pastor is Amy O'Neal, who is married to Luke O'Neal, and they have three children: Lainey, Joel, and Paislee. Our Front Office Secretary, Shelley Suter, has been with Spirit of Life Church since the very beginning. The SLC congregation has a heart to worship, loves living-life together, and is generous in our community.
